No Bake Oreo Truffles

So recently I decided to try some recipes with oreos. About a week and a half before J's Vintage Picnic party, Nikki posted about Golden Oreo Truffles. On my trip to Woolies, I found THE. ONLY. PACKET. THERE. So I snatched it up and brought it home along with a pack of regular Vanilla Oreos. I made them according to the recipe, and then decided that it was too cheese flavoured for my taste (but hey, if you love the flavour of Philly Cream cheese, grab Nikki's version. :) )

Want to make some too?
They are super easy - only 3 ingredients!
Here's my take on it...

No Bake Golden Oreo Truffles

1/4 block  (approx 62g) Light Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1 packet of Golden Oreo Biscuits
White chocolate for dipping.

Process the Oreo's in your food processor. (At this point you could save a little of the crumbs for topping if you like) Rub in the cream cheese and roll into balls. I made mine about 1" in diameter. Pop them in the fridge for about 30 mins while you go off and do something else (for me that was hang the washing and play with the kids for a little bit).

Melt your chocolate (I used the medium setting on my microwave and stirred it every 40 seconds or so) and after it has cooled slightly, start dipping your truffles. I used a toothpick inserted in each one. I have read of others using a fork to do the same thing. NB. If your truffles warm up too much, they will likely fall off the toothpick!

If you saved some of the crumbs for decorating the top, now it the time to dip the top of your truffle in it.
Set on to baking paper and chill.  Store in an air-tight container in the fridge. Serve cold.

Or if you prefer the original kind of Oreo's... Just use the same recipe with different biscuits.

Enjoy!

Pom Poms & Rocky Road

I thought I'd share quickly with you a couple more shots of stuff from our "We're about to have a baby and go into hibernation" party.

Because I was going with red (or deep strawberry) and lemon for the food theme...

I whipped up a few tissue paper pom poms in deep red, lemon, and white and then added some large round lanterns to the mix that I made the Mr. string up for me using fishing line.

I'm not sure why, but the red in the photos came out a whole lot brighter than it really is - and the yellow more, well, yellow. But then, the walls look a weird colour too. Maybe it was the time of day that I took the photos.

Also, as a "Thanks for coming" I wrapped up some large chunks of handmade rocky road - Ours has a bit of a surprising twist to it (I might let you in on the secret some time in the future).

I just used red and white dot (and plain red) muffin cases, clear cellophane, and some red with white dot ribbon. I HAD intended to make up thank you tags to go with them in colours sticking with the theme, but I just plain ran out of time!

Check out where I'm partying through my link party button.

Oh, and if you haven't already heard...
Seaweed & Raine is turning 2 tomorrow!!!
Come back and check out the deets for our first Giveaway.

Christmas 2010 Run Down.

I totally meant to post this before I went away - but I was so busy trying to get everything finished that I didn't get back to it!

So here is a quick run down of the things that I made to give as Christmas gifts (it's safe now...)

Boxy Zippered pouch.

Knitted Washer.
I altered the pattern a bit to make it bigger. Pattern found here.

BIG bag of hand dipped chocolate coated ginger (To go with the washer)

The bag is reversible... my SIL liked the pink side best.
Beginners-bias-tape bag.
Made with Emily Bloom designer range (the pink), and some fabric from Spotlight. Pattern found here.

Sweet Stationary Set.
I used Kikki K. stamps, some handmade paper that I had made earlier, and envelopes from here. (I can't find the finished photo - sorry!)

A crochet sock for an Iphone
This has a cross stitch heart on it, just for a little interest.
(I will post the tutorial for that in a few days - still needs a little tweaking)

And the one that I was the most impressed with - the Diana Hobo Bag.
Alas - I didn't take any photos of the finished product!!! I can't believe it! I did find one dodgy pic on the camera per favour of someone snapping away with it, so I am sharing it with you anyway. My sister will be passing through (hopefully) in a couple of weeks - so I will try to get a better one then.

And the lovely Tania from Teek sent me the jpg for some cute little tags that she made.

So several jars of Rudolph noses, Reindeer poo, and Reindeer Food (Mr. Kelp altered the jpg when he was printing to include one of our friends that doesn't like chocolate. I made Vanilla fudge instead.) later... you just have to sample a few, you know?

Vanilla Fudge for the neighbours.
