If you haven't checked out both my Fiammone and Clinique Giveaways - what are you waiting for? Closes Sunday night 12pm (AEST).
I don't know about you, but I find that the birth (or even pending arrival) of a new baby gives me an incentive to make things. We all have our little motivators - this just seems to be one of mine.
Just over a week and a half ago, my next door neighbour (the one on the other side) brought a gorgeous baby girl into the world, and I know I could have taken easy street and just gone and bought something, but I really wanted to make something for this little sugar plum. I knew I wanted to make a Luxe Lovey for this baby ever since I saw the post Anneliese wrote, but being that I'm not one for satin binding, AND that I like to do things my own way, I came up with something that satisfied my criteria. I wanted it to be soft and snugly, be useful to both mum and bub (Mum sleeps with it for a couple of nights to imbue it with her scent - then gives it to baby when Mum can't be there or at nap time to help her settle), be pretty and something the baby could either snuggle with or play with - depending which end Mum gives her.
Take one fabric shopping trip, and I got started right away. This is how it turned out...
Yes, the sun came out as I was taking this photo... |
I've been talking to my neighbour, and she loves it!!! (Actually, she tried to talk me into selling them).
I'm hoping to get back with a brief tutorial on it soon!
Hope you're having a marvellously creative week! I'm joinging in with some of these creative types.

oh that is such a lovely idea - you making something special for a mum and bub plus the thought that the luxe lovely picks up mum's scent.

ReplyDeletethis is such a lovely idea. I was given something similar and had no idea what to do with it and I thought the tags out the side were a bit weird! A friend was telling me the other day though about how much her daughter loves playing with the tags on things. And now I learn the real purpose of the little blanket bit too! Thanks - its been educational (as well as pretty *grins*)!

ReplyDeleteYour gift is so cute... So soft and snugly. I'd love it if I were a baby or a mommy. :)
What a brilliant idea - to keep the baby calm when mum isn't around. I guess its like the bit of cloth that we got when we got our puppy - it was from her mum's bed. This is definitely a luxury version though! x
