He Loves Me...

What can I say? When the hubby takes his knowledge of something I love (louvres), and something I want (bedside tables) and marries the two together, I feel cherished, cared for and well loved. I was actually going to post on this in February last year - but I had wanted to make over the room they were going in to... it's still a work in progress.

A while ago (last year) he picked up these louvres for free on one of his jaunts, and brought them home. Then he started planning. The bench saw got a work out before assembly, and then I joined him for the painting (we painted one each - but he did both tops).

Have you ever tried leaning over/sitting to paint while pregnant? (Don't worry - I had a special mask on that filters out the chemicals). It's awkward, I have to say.

And here they are.

A little bit of bespoke to go in the guest room - and I LOVE 'em! Thanks honey - you're better than one in a million!!!

Stawberry Shortcake Love

For years now I have wanted to make strawberry short cake - but I've never plucked up the courage to do it - and now that I know how easy it is - I wonder why I took so long!!!

My fabulous Hubs brought home not one, but TWO trays of strawberries not long ago. It worked out at 40 cents a punnet - how could I go wrong with experimenting a little! :) Here is the result.

Not bad - even if I do say so myself. The top did crack a little while I was trying to flip it back onto the base, but who cares! Seriously. The recipe called for double cream (I only had dollop cream on hand), but I have to say, the cake was rich enough that regular whipped cream (with icing sugar and vanilla of course) would have been much better in my opinion.

This one has joined the "Make again" list (likely it will only be a once a year thing though - it's pretty indulgent.

Got strawberries? Give it a go!

Artfully Simple Infinity Scarf

I actually did it.
I managed late today to get a photo or two in the fading light while the little peeps were in the bath.

I'd like to be able to say that I cooked up this little number all on my own, but the clever Tamara Kelly over at Moogly dreamed it up and has been kind enough to share. It's just 1 ball of some-yarn-that-I-can't-find-the-lable-for. I could have used two, but I only had one available. It looks OK (I just have half the number of rows that the pattern states).

This lovely bit of froth will be journeying it's way tomorrow via snail mail to a very sweet friend who is going through a really rough time at the moment. Just another little way to say "I love you"'.

P.S. If you missed it earlier, February's Giveaway is here.

A Sneek Peek of Some Crochet Froth

Here's a little project I''ve been working on. Actually, I finished it tonight, but I will have to wait for good light tomorrow and see if I can get a couple of finished pictures for you. (OK, so you know me by now... the reality of actually getting it posted tomorrow is slim - and totally depends on when little people sleep, and now to add to the mix, swimming lessons for Jellyfish. Lets see how I do.)

Here's one more little peek - just to make you a little more curious...

See you soon!

P.S. If you haven't entered my February Giveaway, now's the time!

The month of love is here...

The month of love is here... how will you share it?

My in-laws were here the other day, and Nana shared her freshly picked walnuts with the  boys.
There were lots of shells saved for creative pastimes at a later date.
