Little Hanger

Do you recall when I showed you this wee little bit of knitting a couple of weeks ago?
Well, I actually got it finished just before baby starfish arrived, but lacked the time and good lighting to take any photos... till now. You see both of my other babies were 10 days overdue, so when Baby Starfish arrived on his due date, some of my plans flew out the window! I was anticipating to be just hanging around for a week or so after his due date, and had thought I'd do a few posts on hangers.

So here it is...

...the first one that I made.
Knitted cover over a timber hanger.

I made it for Jellyfish as his clothing is getting bigger now, and the baby hangers aren't quite cutting it.
And I knew that with the series of  things I had made for the baby, the chances were the the boys might feel a little left out, so something made for them was in order.

Next week I'll show you another one.

New things in the works...

Well, the long weekend here in NSW is off to a good start. We started the morning with pancakes with maple syrup and cream. The boys wanted theirs heart shaped, so I helped Jellyfish fill a bottle and squirt heart shapes into the pan till his heart was content.I was kinda hoping to go to the Jazz festival in Darling Harbour, but with the weather the way it is (pouring rain and cold), and my due date only a few days away, we decided to stay put.

I've spent part of the day sorting out things that were in the cupboard that is in the baby's room (it was used as my office/studio space for a wee bit - so there are boxes and boxes that needed attention), and then the rest of the afternoon over at PicMonkey.

I'm a total newbie at this kind of thing - but it seems to be relatively easy. The first thing I worked on was a new blog header. I've only been wanting to do one for about 12 months now... and I finally did it. It's not perfect, but for a very first photo editing session, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  I should have taken a good friend's advice ages ago when she recommended it!

Also on the line up today - sharing with you something I have in progress...

Any guesses as to what it might be? I'll be back when I get a good "non-rainy-day-grey" photo of what it looks like finished. ...Just so you know!

Baby Gifts - Luxe Lovey with Taggie Feature

If you haven't checked out both my Fiammone and Clinique Giveaways - what are you waiting for? Closes Sunday night 12pm (AEST).

I don't know about you, but I find that the birth (or even pending arrival) of a new baby gives me an incentive to make things. We all have our little motivators - this just seems to be one of mine.

Just over a week and a half ago, my next door neighbour (the one on the other side) brought a gorgeous baby girl into the world, and I know I could have taken easy street and just gone and bought something, but I really wanted to make something for this little sugar plum. I knew I wanted to make a Luxe Lovey for this baby ever since I saw the post Anneliese wrote, but being that I'm not one for satin binding, AND that I like to do things my own way, I came up with something that satisfied my criteria. I wanted it to be soft and snugly, be useful to both mum and bub (Mum sleeps with it for a couple of nights to imbue it with her scent - then gives it to baby when Mum can't be there or at nap time to help her settle), be pretty and something the baby could either snuggle with or play with - depending which end Mum gives her.

Take one fabric shopping trip, and I got started right away. This is how it turned out...

Yes, the sun came out as I was taking this photo...

I've been talking to my neighbour, and she loves it!!! (Actually, she tried to talk me into selling them).
I'm hoping to get back with a brief tutorial on it soon!

Hope you're having a marvellously creative week! I'm joinging in with some of these creative types.

Clinique - Birthday giveaway #2

Hi everyone!

Did you think I had forgotten you all? Never! But I will say that nursing two sick little boys, and then adding one sick hubby to the mix didn't leave me with oodles of time for blogging. I've just been mellowing with them, and trying to see their needs.

Add to that, both of my little peeps seem to be getting very cuddly and wanting us to just BE with them (possibly a response to the fact that the baby will be here in the next couple of weeks)... how could I refuse? (eg. this afternoon Little C didn't/couldn't/wouldn't stay in his bed for his nap... so I ended up cuddling up with him in our bed, and he fell asleep in a flash... so did I, but not for too long. One Cosmo mag and I ended up whiling away a little time till he woke up).
But back to the reason I'm here now...

The Giveaway!

Righto.

I will be the first to say that I use some of the products that Clinique has on offer - not all, but some. And there are some of them that I find absolutely fabulous (Why ever did they discontinue their "Sugarplump" lip gloss - seriously - that was MY lip gloss!!!). Have you tried their Deep Comfort Body Butter? Bliss. Not TOO fragrant. Just right.

I would like to off you, my fabulous readers a chance to win a pack containing the following:
* 50ml tube of rinse-off foaming cleanser mousse
* 30 ml tube of dramatically different moisturising lotion
*Mini tube of  high impact mascara in "11 Brightening Black"

All put together in a funky floral Clinique cosmetic bag.

How's that?

For additional entries:

Seaweed & Raine Turns 2 (Party Time!)

It's two years today since I  wrote my first blog post with some trepidation (and just bit excitedly too). And a lot has probably changed since then. I've made a whole bunch of great friends (most of which I have never met), and have been challenged to push my creative experiences just that bit further than I think I can. And while doing all of that, I have found a sense of achievement in each thing that I have done, each skill that I have learnt. Ohhh, there's more to learn - and that is what makes me keep at it. And in the process, I have all of you brilliant people encouraging me, giving me tips, and just in general being wonderful.

And I really want to thank you for it all. I know I ramble on a bit at times - but you put up with it (or you close the tab and move on... who's to know?). So, to celebrate the fact that I've actually stayed with this space for 2 years, and that you guys are STILL there - a little celebration is in order - don't you think?
